The Blogger to his Valentine

More than Dubya hates Saddam

Or an Idiotarian hates a clue

Or Reynolds hates the A.N.S.W.E.R. icks

That’s how much I love you.

I love you more than a Max can Speak
And more than a DenBeste bores
I love you more than Denton smirks
And more than Caruso roars.

As a Freeper hates a Camembert slice
And an OxBlogger hates a dove
As CalPundit hates a rainy day
That’s how much you I love.

I love you more than a Volokh lurks
And more than a Skippy jumps
More than Mickey likes the inside dope
And more than a Kos daily stumps.

I swear to you by the stars above,
And below if such there be,
As Lott is loved by Mary Rosh
That’s how you’re loved by me.

(With sincere apologies to Ogden Nash.)

The great Irish poets: Yeats, Heaney, Muldoon, Healy. Myself, the Irish poem I’m thinking of today is Padriac Colum’s “I Shall Not Die for Thee”. Sigh.

Please spare us the ineptitude of your “poetry.” You know the old saying, “Don’t quit your day job”? It was written for people like you.

Bah humbug, Mr. Jennings.

As a single political geek, this made VD somewhat tolertable. WarCraft 3 shall do the rest!

Yay for blog poetry!

I LIKE IT & I’m sure Ogden would cut you slack.
As for you Mr. Jennings, you belong with the candies
that were bit, spit, and put back in the box.

Reflections on Ice-Breaking by Ogden Nash

Candy
Is dandy
But liquor
Is quicker

Ah, Ogden Nash. One of the great poets of ever—at least one of the funniest.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love me
Why don’t you.

Or as one Valentine card I saw said, “You make stalking seem so right”

Yeats, Higgins, Healy

Imagine my delight last night when I opened my copy of Wired to find a “From the Blogs” column featuring a charming excerpt from Crooked Timber’s own Kieran Healy. (No, seriously- imagine it.) As a Freeper hates a Camembert slice…
