Oh Not Another One

Via Patrick Nielsen Hayden comes yet another interesting goddamn blog, this time from a history prof at Swarthmore. My God, have you people no pity? Give it a rest with your pithy and insighful commentary already. I’m supposed to be writing articles, for crying out loud.

I think I’ll be distributing this to my students soon, in the hope that it will do them some good.

Interesting fact about Swarthmore: I think it produces more sociologists per capita than any other university in the world. I have no hard data on this, but there’s a lot of anecdotal evidence.

Some credit for all those sociologists is owed to alum and computer visionary Ted Nelson, whose column in the Swarthmore student paper (in the early 1960s? late 1950s?) was called “We Need a Sociology Department”….

Oh, fine, you’re one to talk about new and interesting academic blogs drawing us away from our real work. :-)

Found yours on technorati’s “interesting newcomers” list. Meanwhile, my technorati cosmos also pointed me to a new link to my blog where the writer exclaimed “I didn’t know there were, like, real academics with blogs. Cool.”

Meanwhile, my academic blogroll is growing more quickly than I can read it.
