It's nice to see a sane position about the alleged "WMD" blather.

In the "risks/rewards" linked post, he says "the left won't get out of the domestic." I'm not sure what that means -- but I do know that the domestic casualties will be quite large, though not easy to round up and count like battlefield bodies.

Staying domestic -- and leaving aside the casualty lists of the next returning-vets Gulf War- or Agent Orange-type syndrome -- the real home casualties will include the early deaths of the aged, the seriously ill, the mentally ill, mostly among the poor and the working class. These deaths will be a direct result of cutbacks (known to politicians as "reforms") in the social programs, cut under cover of the war. Who is counting these casualties? -- LC

I agree with Larry C: money spent on installing a puppet regime in Iraq is money not spent on preserving, let alone improving, the lives of US citizens at home. But not to worry: the GOP will explain that it's Saddam's fault for making US make war and divert resources from domestic needs. The solution? Tax cuts!
