Congratulations to Iain J. Coleman, who yesterday won election to the Cambridge City Council, representing the Romney ward. Iain’s a Liberal Democrat and picked up the seat from the Labour incumbent. On to Westminster! Now we just need to get Jim Capozzola elected as Senator for Pennsylvania.
Fuck me; I remember the Lib Dems unsuccessfully trying to win that seat for years.
IIRC, when I was there, the council went from Conservative control to Labour control. But now the Tories have two seats, and the Lib Dems have an overwhelming majority? Jesus.
Having said that though, I do remember the Cambridge Lib Dems being decent skins.
I also have fond memories of playing bingo at the Labour party Hall, and GMC meetings going into the night.
I must congratulate Iain on his win, though I fear that my congratulations are somewhat tainted by my own views on the subject, with which (semi-miraculously), I have recently updated my own blog.
